We love ihateyoungpeople.com. The site produces short videos allowing both young and old people to “rant, rave and vent” about the other generation. These videos are outstanding online; they seem sort of comedic and educational, but in fact they work more like catchy, surprising songs. Each person, inspired by the camera, gives a little show, with melody. And then good editors of these videos find rhymes. Most videos show both sides of each generation’s opinion - offering the clear insight that both old and young people will eventually go through the same processes, hinting at the hopeful generational dialogue that might develop from the site. It also offers users the opportunity to create videos themselves and upload them, about issues they feel are relevant to the generational debate. The best videos will make it onto an American television pilot further opening up the debates. If the site stays active enough it will be interesting to see if generational gripes do actually change over the years, and will hopefully produce a productive dialogue between older and younger people.
